Customs: Russia’s trade surplus rises 28.6% to $31.5 bln Jan–Feb

MOSCOW, Apr 9 (PRIME) -- Russia’s trade surplus rose 28.57% on the year to U.S. $31.5 billion in January–February, the Federal Customs Service said on Monday.

Exports increased 25.2% to $65.4 billion and imports rose 22.1% to $33.9 billion.

Fuel and energy resources accounted for 65.7% of physical exports in the period, down from 66.7% in the same period of 2016, while the share of metals and metal products went up to 11.1% from 9.6%. Cars and machine equipment accounted for 44.5% of Russia’s imports in the period, up from 43.3% last year.

Trade with the E.U. accounted for 44.9% of Russia’s foreign trade in January–February, down from 45.8% in January–February 2016, with the share of CIS countries falling to 11.4% from 12.1%, of states of the Eurasian Economic Union to 8% from 9%, and of the Asia–Pacific Economic Cooperation states rising to 29.8% from 29.5%.
